BIOGRAPHY INVENTOR
👉An inventor is a person who creates a new invention, usually a technical device such as a mechanical, electronic, or software tool or method. Although an inventor can also be a scientist, inventors usually discover something based on the knowledge of other scientists, experiment with practical applications and combinations of these various knowledge, and develop and combine existing tools, to create new useful tools.
Al Khawarizmi
Al-Khawarizmi has the full name Muhammad ibn Musa Al Khwarizmi, while in western countries Al Khawarizmi is known as Al Goritmi, Al Gorismi, Al Cowarizmi, and other spelling designations. Al Khawarizmi was born around 780 M in Khawarizm if now his birthplace is known as the city of Khiva in Uzbekistan. His family is of Persian descent who has settled in Khawarizm, but from some historical records it is known that when he was a child he moved with his family to the south of Baghdad, so this is where he pursued his career as a mathematician.
He is thought to have lived during the time of the Abbasid caliphs Al-Ma'mun, Al-Mu'tashim and Al-Watsiq which were known as the golden age of science in the Arab region thanks to the translation of books and knowledge into Arabic. At that time there was Bait Al-Hikmah which was the center of research, translation of books into Arabic, and also scientific publications carried out by Muslim scholars including Al Khawarizmi.
Al Khawarizmi joined other scholars at Bait Al-Hikmah when he was 20 years old. During his lifetime he worked at the Honorary School which was founded by the Caliph Al-Ma'mun. It was there that he wrote many ideas and published scientific books in the fields of mathematics, astronomy, history and geography, including studying the translation of Sanskrit and Greek literature
His first work was published in the book al-Jabar (Al-Kitāb al-mukhtaṣar fī ḥisāb al-jabr wa-l-muqābala), this book is the first book to explain the systematic solution of linear and quadratic notations. It was thanks to this work that he was nicknamed the Father of Algebra, besides that the book also contributed to language. The word algebra comes from the word al-Jabr which is listed in his book.
The results of his thoughts in the book al-Jabar are considered a major revolution in mathematics. He succeeded in integrating geometric concepts from ancient Greek mathematics into new mathematical concepts. His thinking resulted in a combined theory that allowed rational, irrational numbers and geometrical quantities to be treated as algebraic objects.
Al Khawarizmi also contributed to the arithmetic branch, the results of his thoughts on this field were expressed in his work entitled Kitāb al-Jam'a wa-l-tafrīq bi-ḥisāb al-Hind. It is known as the first scientific book written using the decimal number system. The theory discussed in the book is a starting point for balancing mathematics and science and it is from this book that the origin of algorithms emerged
In parts of Europe, his works were mostly translated into Latin as Algorithmi, Algorismi, Alchawarizmi so that in western literature Al Khawarizmi is known as Algorizm. This designation is then used to describe the concept of algorithms that the discovery of logarithmic calculations which are now widely used, especially in the fields of computers or science and engineering, which came from the results of his thoughts
Besides that, the binary mathematics used in programming is also based on the concept of the Al Khawarizmi algorithm. The advancement of digital computers and their programming is inseparable from his thoughts as the gateway to progress. The word algorithm itself that we know today is a word that is taken from the word algorithm which is Latinized from the name.
Al Khawarizmi is estimated to have died in 850 M and during his lifetime his work was not only about mathematics, but many fields of science were influenced by the results of his thoughts. As in geography he perfected Ptolemy's map in his work entitled Kitāb ṣūrat al-Arḍ and according to Paul Gallez, this is very useful for determining our position in bad conditions.
